Environmental Competition

What is the Environmental Challenge?
This environmental project aims to directly involve learners in schools in the a) identification, b) analysis, and c) solution of environmental problems within their immediate school environment.
Instead of offering several small, independent projects or driving one overarching project, this approach focuses on implementing sustainable, integrated solutions with a greater and more lasting impact.
The project also strongly emphasises addressing real-life challenges unique to each specific school and/or its direct environment, ensuring that learning remains meaningful and relevant within the context of learners’ everyday reality.

Method and participation
Each participating group will:
i. Identify environmental problems within or around the school.
ii. Determine the most pressing problem that requires urgent attention.
iii. Develop and implement a long-term solution that is both cost-effective and sustainable.
Important: The project must be planned and executed by the learners themselves. The school manages internal arrangements regarding participation, but parents, teachers, and principals do not take the lead. This guarantees that learners develop true leadership while applying and enhancing authentic problem-solving skills.
